For the past two years, a multi-faceted and socially-minded arts education operation has been in the works: The Colorbridge Arts Collective is a collaboration of art-educators who believe in the vital expressive potential and real world impact of sharing the joys of art making with children.
We invite you to become part of this endeavor on Thursday, May 4th, at Colorbridge Arts Collective’s Inaugural fundraiser and cocktail party:
The Inaugural Colorbridge Continuum takes form with a salon style group-show art exhibition and sale. Appetizers and specialty cocktails will be generously provided by Blood and Sand. Live music and performances will continue to spice things up….and you will certainly be in good company with like-minded supporters.
We hope you can join and support the Colorbridge Arts Collective in the future and on Thursday, May 4th!
What is it all about?
The Colorbridge Art Collective’s signature program, Color Wheel Connections: Handmade Books about Human Beings, uses the color wheel to start conversations with children about our similarities and differences as humans beings. It helps children celebrate our diversity rather than fear difference. 56 books written by St. Louis children are currently featured in the Sheldon Art Galleries and the exhibit is visited regularly by school children and their teachers. We are excited to announce Colorwheel Connections will be implemented this fall within all grade levels of a Kindergarten through 8th grade school in Ferguson, Missouri.
While this unique “colorbrave” curriculum is being delivered, a wide variety of other art studio-based afterschool programs are connecting St. Louis school children with inspired art-educators sharing experiences in Papermaking, Bookmaking, Photography, Ceramics, “Zine-Machines”, Color Theory, “Daring to Draw” and Creative Writing.
