A special present for me this Holiday Season! Local New Regionalist artist, Bryan Haynes, just delivered the painting of our family farm in Pike County. Rockford Farms is on the National Register of Historic Places as the Griffith McCune Farmstead.
The home was built in the 1850’s with a sizable smokehouse on the right. Notice the old oaks that still stand on the property. The landmark octagonal barn is circa 1900. Off to the left is the Rockford School House that was turned into a home in the 1950’s for my Aunt Bunny and Uncle Swede when they moved back to Missouri from Wyoming. On the upper left is a small, pre-fab house that my grandparents put up on the hill enjoying the best views.
Thank you Bryan for a piece of art that will be enjoyed by many generations to come.
