Theodore Link’s Historic Country Property is For Sale

771 Adda Road, St. Albans MO

Theodore Link served as one of the architects for the 1904 World’s Fair & his crowning achievement was the Saint Louis Union Station, which was the largest station of its time & is considered an architectural jewel. In 1903 Mr. Link bought property at the end of Adda Road, there he & his wife built their cottage. He designed & supervised the construction of 771 Adda Road. Sometime before 1934, the property was purchased by Charles Stocktrom, the founder of the Magic Chef Stove Co., as a summer home to get away from the heat of St. Louis.

The Missouri river ran beneath the bluffs & the breeze blowing over it would cool the area considerably during hot summer months. After Mr. Stocktrom passed away, the property was turned over to his daughter, Adda Ohmeyer. In 1937, Adda added a small caretakers cottage some out buildings & the magnificent pool. The Magic Chef Family owned the property until Adda’s death in 1990 after which the property was purchased by the current owners.

This truly is a rare opportunity to purchase an important historic property in Saint Albans. Located only 45 minutes from St. Louis is this ideal family getaway or primary residence. The property borders the Engelmann Woods Natural Area. It is close to St. Albans Country Club, shopping, restaurants & all of the amenities that serve Wildwood/Chesterfield Valley.

The property consists of a 3 bed, 2 bath main house with a dramatic living room with a beamed ceiling & wood burning fireplace. Charming dining room, bar & country kitchen. The cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath & a kitchenette. There is also a historic barn/stable near the cottage. The hallmark of the property is an enormous 100,000-gallon pool with changing rooms and storage.
