At the park, the moon’s shadow will begin to pass over the sun at 11:49 a.m. and the total eclipse phase will be from 1:17 p.m. – 1:19 .pm. Eye protection, in the form of specialized eclipse glasses will be required for safe viewing of the sun – looking at the sun directly, even during an eclipse, can cause permanent eye damage. Get ready for an event that is sure to eclipse all others! Identified as one of the best places under the sun (and moon) for viewing the solar eclipse, The Magic House is hosting a Solar Eclipse Viewing Party in the Museum’s front garden. Solar eclipse enthusiasts will have it made in the shade as they safely watch the moon pass between the sun and earth with a special pair of viewing glasses. The celebration will include a variety of sun-sational activities including an out-of-this-world dance party! Free with Museum admission.

Schlafly Beer announces plans to commemorate this summer’s solar eclipse in a big way with a special Path of Totality pack for its Helles-style lager. In addition, the largest, locally owned brewery in Missouri will bring the party to the epicenter of the eclipse with the “Schlafly’s Eclipse Field Trip” at the Dew Drop Inn in Bloomsdale, MO. Eclipse watchers are invited to join Schlafly at the Dew Drop Inn in Bloomsdale, Missouri for the optimal eclipse experience as well as a BBQ, beers, lawn games and live music. For the ultimate excursion, Schlafly will provide an all-inclusive pass including transportation from the Tap Room and back for $45. Tickets are limited and can be purchased at eclipse starting on July 1.

Partial phase begins at 11:50 a.m. and totality will begin at 1:18 p.m. in Fort Kaskaskia. For your safety, please view the eclipse by using solar eclipse glasses with an optical density of 5 or greater.
