Let Them Eat Art in Downtown Maplewood

“Welcome to the 12th Annual Let Them Eat Art, Maplewood’s whimsical tribute to Bastille Day held each year the second Friday evening of July. The event features live art demonstrations by regional artists, live music, and food and drink by Maplewood’s award-winning food purveyors. Let Them Eat Art is not an art fair; it’s a celebration of making art and enjoying art in the shops and on the streets of historic downtown Maplewood.” From 6 to 11pm. Admission is free.

National Mac ‘n’ Cheese Day Eating Contest at Noodles & Co. Richmond Heights

“National Mac ‘n Cheese Day is July 14, and to celebrate, Noodles & Company is hosting a mac ‘n’ cheese-eating contest at its Richmond Heights restaurant, pitting together the Richmond Heights Police Department and Richmond Heights Fire Department in a friendly competition benefiting BackStoppers. The winning team will generate a donation for the non-profit organization. Between 11am and 1pm that day, guests can also get a tour of the police car and fire truck, and there will be activities and handouts for children. On Fri., July 14 and Sat., July 15 (to keep the celebration going!), guests who purchase a regular mac ‘n’ cheese will also receive a small entrée-sized mac ‘n’cheese for free.” From 11am to 1pm. Admission is free.

National Ice Cream Day at Ices Plain & Fancy

“It’s our birthday and it’s National Ice Cream Day! Come out and celebrate St. Louis’s nitro ice cream parlor’s third anniversary from Noon until 4pm! In addition to our full menu of ice cold treats, we will also have live music and some more surprises!” From 12 to 4pm. Admission is free.

French Creole-Style Crawfish Boil at Vin de Set

Continue Vin de Set’s Bastille Day celebration with a Creole-style crawfish boil. All you can eat crawfish, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn on the cob and mixed green salad, plus one free Paul’s Pils draft. From 6:30 to 8:30pm. All-you-can-eat dinner is $29.99 with reservations and $34.99 at the door.

Pairings are: Firecracker French Toast with cinnamon, cranberry and blueberry French toast, maple syrup made with housemade Fireball, and cayenne butter paired with Schlafly India Pale Lager; Smoked Salmon Chipotle Bennies, with poached local eggs, house-smoked salmon, toasted English muffins and chipotle hollandaise paired with 4 Hands Typhon Red Saison; Stars and Stripes Slinger, with two sunny-side-up farm eggs, zesty hog patty, red-and-white chili and brioche toasted paired with Six Mile Bridge Irish Stout; Local Dairy Red, White and Blue Parfait, with layered fresh yogurt parfait and fresh berry compote paired with Perennial Dry-Hopped Berliner Weiss; and Salute to the Western Front-tatta, with house-smoked ham, tri peppers, red onion and Fontina cheese paired with Urban Chestnut Fantasyland IPA.” From 9am to 12pm. Peach Festival at Kirkwood Farmers’ Market
