First Impressions Of The New Uncle Julio’s in Frontenac

Last week I had dinner at Uncle Julio’s in Frontenac, a new and upscale Tex-Mex restaurant chain. As you enter you are greeted by an eccentric mural, lovely!

Drinks and food were fair – For appetizers, I had guacamole and queso blanco. I have to say, the queso blanco was one of the best quesos I have ever had! For dinner, I ordered the filet mignon fajitas for two, and I’d recommend adding the Mexican butter on the side. The meat was as expected for filet mignon, but the tortillas were what shined. If seated near the kitchen, you can watch the chefs hand-press tortillas before bringing them fresh to the table.

Is it a staple in my restaurant rotation? Probably not, however, it is a fun place to eat with friends. Reviewed by Ira Wight
