If you’re in the market for a stunning, historic property with panoramic views of the Mississippi River, look no further than 110 Overlook in Imperial, Missouri. Originally built in 1928 by Mr. and Mrs. William Moydell of St. Louis, this impressive Maritz & Young estate served as their summer home. Located on a sprawling 4.05-acre property (which was originally around 55 acres), the estate features a caretaker cottage at the edge of the property where staff once lived on-site. Over the years, the property has had two other owners, including famed radio and TV executive Douglas Newman.
The current owners have truly gone above and beyond in restoring and maintaining the beauty and integrity of this historic property. While they have made updates to bring the home up to modern standards for comfortable living, they have done so without compromising the home’s historic charm. Check out the before and afters below!
Exterior
Half of the front porch, to the left of the front door, was enclosed to create a first-floor full bathroom.
Foyer
The foyer visually remains the same, though a full bathroom is to the right of the front door.
Dining Room
The dining room remains untouched, even down to the chandelier and scones!
Lower Level
The lower level with original fireplace – note they even have the same andirons.
Kitchen
Unfortunately, we have no photos of the original kitchen though we know they combined the kitchen and separate breakfast room to create their new chef’s kitchen that perfectly blends.
