Michelle is an avid follower of design blogs. “Chic” should be her middle name which not only describes her new kitchen, but also her lifestyle. Michelle recently moved to St. Louis and turned to NEXT Project Studio to help create her dream kitchen in their new home.

The tile backsplash was a bold choice in a scallop pattern, but kept neutral doesn’t overwhelm the space, rather it adds appropriate interest. After Michelle selected the tile, she was delighted to see it was a popular pattern in mid-century design, a style that appeals to Michelle, having seen recent examples at the St. Louis Art Museum.
As an optometrist, Michelle’s first passion is her family, growing now with child number three born just before Christmas. She wanted a beautiful family gathering place. “We spend most of our time in the kitchen and really enjoy being together.”
Our challenge:
Steven, Michelle’s husband: “make the experience fun and budget-friendly! Oh, and finish it before the baby comes!”
Michelle: “I love those walnut cabinets, and for a bit of drama I want the quartz waterfall island and brass accents.”
The result:
